Start
with the basics If you plan on taking personnel or staff photos, please be sure notify people in advance of the date and time for the photo to be taken so that they can be ready. There's nothing worse than someone sticking a camera in your face and saying "smile" when you've just worked eight hours and you're wearing the yellow shirt you don't particularly like. And you know the way photos have a way of hanging around for a long time. Digital images are great. However, they will have to be in the proper resolution and format for the type of project you are producing. Check out the ImageLab for more information on acceptable image formats and resolutions. If I can answer any questions or help make the process easier, please let me know. |
Things to consider: Do you have a catalog? It most likely contains most the materials you need. Do you have brochures, handbooks, parts manuals? These are all useful resources. The ImageLab has samples of printed materials that have been scanned. These materials need to be carefully scanned and digitally enhanced to produce the best results. Have you won awards or received recognition from professional organizations? Don't forget to toot your own horn. People like a winner. Do you place ads in magazines, newspapers or periodicals? They could possibly contain useful images and text. Does your supplier offer logos, photos, or line drawings of their products? Suppliers are often a source for high quality images specifically designed for advertising and to help sell their products. What about product labeling or packaging? Try to gather these before they have been applied to the product. Take a look at the package scan samples in the ImageLab. Do you have a particular sales speech you really like? Write it down. You might find the first things you say to a potential customer are the most important. Do you want to have a map of where you are located? This is a good idea if you are trying to generate walk-in traffic for your local store or to help viewers locate a store in their area. Also useful if you are close to a particular landmark or public event area. What kind of historical data does your company keep. Historical information is a great way to tell viewers you are an established, reputable business. Old historical photos are fun. Take a look at the sample in the ImageLab to see how they can be restored and enhanced. Do you have photos of your personnel or staff? Don't forget, give people a chance to look their best. Perhaps your staff would like to provide their own personal photos (provided they are appropriate to your site.) |
